Many of us struggle to wake up in the morning, and it can create more issues than we think. Here are some tips to help you wake up more easily!

Tips to help you wake up in the morning

Have the next day planned!

If you struggle to wake up early in the morning, plan what you will do the next day before you go to sleep. When you’re more conscious of what you will have to do when you wake up, the thought of fulfilling your responsibilities may encourage you to get out of bed faster.

It’s useful to think about what motivates you and why your motivation is low in the morning. The activities you will do during the day can motivate you, but so can your aspirations and goals! Striving towards a balanced and healthy lifestyle can be a great source of motivation.

Calculate how many hours of sleep you get!

There’s a ton of research on sleep schedules, but everyone is different. Only you know how many hours of sleep is best for you! Here’s how you can easily begin to understand your body’s biological clock. Don’t set an alarm for a few days, and count how many hours you sleep. Once you have a good understanding of how much sleep you need, plan your bedtime and wake-up times accordingly.

Stick to a sleep schedule to wake up in the morning.

In addition to knowing the number of hours of sleep your body needs, you need a good sleep pattern. Your sleep pattern or routine is the time of day your body is used to going to sleep and waking up. It takes some time (everyone’s body is different), but you can and should alter your body’s sleep pattern if it’s not aligned to your personal responsibilities and goals. You can make changes to your sleep pattern by going to bed at roughly the same time each night (especially on weekends!). After a few days or weeks, your body will get into the habit of waking up at the same time. It will gradually become easier to wake up early.

Put your alarm clock away from your bed!

If your alarm is within reach of your bed, it’s easy to turn it off and go back to sleep or press the snooze button. By putting your phone or alarm on the other side of the room, you’ll have to get out of bed to turn it off. Physically getting up awakens your muscles and body. Also, keep in mind that your sleep quality is greatly affected by the temperature of your room. It is important to get a good balance between a hot and cold. A burst of cool air around your body when you get out of bed energizes the body! This tip may not make it “easier” to wake up, per se, but it will definitely make it harder to fall back asleep once you’re up.

Drink a glass of water!

Have a full glass of water or water bottle next to your bed every night.  In the morning, our body wakes up dehydrated. Drinking water helps to minimize the difficulty of waking up early.  In addition to waking you up, a cold glass of water on an empty stomach has many health benefits. Drinking water first thing in the morning aids digestion and your metabolism, so you will wake up faster and feel more alert.

Now, you are ready to wake up in the morning more easily!

Start your day with exercise or yoga! Exercising or even just going for a walk can be a good solution to dispel morning sleepiness. If you exercise regularly, not only will you be healthier and sleep better at night, but you will also have more energy during the day. We also suggest playing music while making breakfast. This can help you start your day in a good mood and provide energy when you have difficulty waking up early. These little things help you create a positive mindset to start your day and increase your motivation to wake up in the morning.
