Is the density of a gaseous substance likely to be larger or smaller than the density of a liquid or solid substance at the same temperature? Why? Smaller, because gases are mostly empty space. Larger, because solids and liquids have larger particles. Smaller, because gas particles have less mass. Larger, because gases take up more space.
