Use Pop it beads to model the cell cycle including G1 S G2 and all the stages of Mitosis Build a diploid set of homologous chromosomes where 2n 6 The two different colors yellow and red should represent maternal and paternal chromosomal contributions in each diploid cell i e in each homologous pair of chromosomes one chromosome will be yellow and one will be red The magnets will be used to represent centromeres You can use chalk to draw circles on the lab tables to represent the cell membrane nuclear membrane and mitotic spindle as you model each stag in the cell cycle Note the circles might change as you walk through the different stages For each stage of the cell cycle including mitosis state how many chromosomes replicated chromosomes and chromatids are present
