In terms of speciation, what is "reinforcement"? Allopatric conditions cause a single population to diverge into two populations which live in separate areas. An adaptation which follows an initial separation of populations of a species which decreases the chances of successful interbreeding. An adaptation which causes a successful (fit) species to re-emphasize its primary adaptations, thus further increasing its fitness derived from this primary adaptation. The addition of co-evolutionary relationships to the ecological niche of a species, thus strengthening its ecological postion.
