What does it mean if a psychiatrist documented that the patient had a flat affect? There is no outward display on the face of any of the patient's emotions or thoughts. The patient is in a stuporous, fixed position like a statue. The patient does not receive any sexual arousal from images of the opposite sex. The patient is not able to feel guilt or shame.
